The tightrope between "bud" and "boss" can often be difficult to walk, especially in light of popular leadership gurus that sometimes confuse niceness with goodness, but there is a way to treat your team like family while also holding people accountable to complete tasks and increase in skill level. Splash isn't here to "should" on you, but he does drop some truth bombs about leading with care and integrity that should become canon for effective management principles.
